Appointments
There are two ways to schedule an appointment—online using Patient Portal or by calling 319-273-2009, option #2.
If you are not currently established with one of our mental health providers at this clinic and need to make an appointment please call 319-273-2009, option #2.
You must be a currently enrolled student to schedule an appointment, click on the link to the Patient Portal below and login using your Cat ID and passphrase. Once you are in the patient portal, select New Appointment from the dashboard.
Please remember to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. You will need to stop at the front desk to start your check-in process.
The Student Health Clinic functions as a general medical clinic and provides evaluation and treatment for a wide variety of health concerns. Routine health exams, illness or injury evaluations, mental health services and coordination of care for chronic medical issues are some of the services offered.
Appointment Information
To schedule a medical appointment, use Patient Portal and login using your CatID and passphrase. Once you are in the patient portal, select New Appointment from the dashboard.
If you need to schedule any of the following appointments, please contact our office directly at 319-273-2009, option #2, as these can not be scheduled online. Please remember to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time. You will need to stop at the front desk to start your check-in process.
- Initial Mental health visit-if you have never seen our provider
- Urinary tract infection
- Allergy shot
- Depo shot
- Sexually transmitted infection testing
- Immunizations
- Yearly gyn exam
- Nexplanon insertion/removal
Students need to call to cancel their appointment as there a no-show fee that will be billed if there is no notification of cancellation.
There may be an opportunity to schedule the same day appointment for medical care of your contact with the SHC if physicians are not already booked.
Please note: Emails cannot be used to make an appointment, cancel an appointment or answer medical questions.
Upon arrival of your scheduled appointment, please use one of the self check-in stations to register. If you need to update your insurance information, check in with the receptionist at the front desk who will assist you in making the necessary changes.
To be prepared for your visit to the Student Health Clinic you should:
- Bring your health and pharmacy insurance cards.
- Know all medications & doses you are currently taking.
- Know your medication allergies and sensitivities.
Eligibility & Requirements
All registered University of Northern Iowa students and those who meet the below criteria are eligible to use our services. We encourage you to schedule an appointment by calling 319-273-2009. We are located on West 23rd Street next to the Schindler Education Center.
You are eligible to use the Student Health Clinic if you meet any of the following criteria:
Registered UNI student taking one or more hours per semester
Registered UNI student taking less than one hour per semester (ex: Continuous Registration) who voluntarily pay the student health fee
Faculty/staff may use our services for travel consultations. A charge will be assessed for the office visit and administered vaccinations
