Clinical Services

Services

Students enrolled at the University of Northern Iowa are eligible for counseling services which include short-term individual therapy, therapy groups and quick access appointments. If more than five individual in-person sessions are needed, the Counseling Center will file a claim with your health insurance company. Students may also work with a Counseling Center intern when clinically appropriate without insurance involvement or students may utilize 24/7/365 Open Call and Open Chat and teletherapy individual sessions.

UNI Counseling Services Open Call and Open Chat all work with one another to ensure you only need to open one door to begin to find support. When you have a vision of what will work best for you, we help connect you to the best clinical offering to meet your goal.

Let’s Talk provides free, brief consultations.  Consults are drop-in and first come, first serve at the Student Health Center hours of availability are Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 during academic semesters while classes are in session.

Let’s Talk is great for students who:

  • Trying to find resources on campus but don’t know where to start
  • Have a concern about a friend or family member and would like ideas about what to do
  • Are unsure about counseling or wonder what it’s like to talk to a counselor.
  • Have a specific problem and would like someone with whom to talk it through.
