FAQs

  • What is an appointment like?
    • During the appointment,the provider will discuss your mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, stress, or other emotional challenges. They may ask questions about your symptoms, medical history, and any current medications. Based on the discussion, the provider may offer a diagnosis, prescribe medications, recommend therapy, or provide additional resources and referrals. 
  • How do I pay for services?
    • Insurance is billed for these services, and you are responsible for any deducible and/or co-pays. These charges will be placed on your U-bill. If you need help understanding your insurance call the toll free number on the back of the card. Our mental health case coordinator can also help with any questions you may have.
  • How do I get my medications?
    • Medications will be prescribed to a pharmacy of your choice for you to pick up. Some local pharmacies deliver if transportation is a concern.
  • What if I already have a prescriber at home?
    • If you wish to transfer your care, please make an appointment with the mental health case coordinator and fill out a release of information form at the UNI Student Health Center. If you wish to continue care with your current prescriber but have other questions the mental health case coordinator is a great place to start!
